The intent of our Religious Education curriculum, informed by the Enfield SACRE, is to enable all our children to learn concepts from and about religion and worldviews, so that they can understand the world around them. Through enquiry based learning, we ensure our children acquire and develop knowledge and understanding of the world faiths (including principal religions) and views represented in Great Britain; their understanding and awareness of the beliefs, values and traditions of other individuals, societies, communities and cultures, to appreciate the way that religious beliefs shape life and our behaviour, develop the ability to make reasoned and informed judgements about religious and moral issues and enhance their spiritual, moral, social and cultural development. The curriculum is further enhanced by educational visits to places of worship within our local community.
Our Curriculum Drivers of growth mindset, community, environment and language development are embedded in teaching and learning and encourage our children to enquire about the world and to reflect on their own beliefs, values and experiences.
Policy on Withdrawing a Child from Religious Worldviews Education (RWVE)
Religion and belief have become more visible in public life in recent years, making it important that all pupils have the opportunity to engage in Religious Worldviews Education (RWVE). However, parents or carers have the right to request that their child be excused from all or part of the RWVE curriculum.
This approach ensures that the rights of parents and the needs of pupils are balanced with the school’s responsibility to promote community cohesion and support pupils' understanding of the diverse world in which they live.
