A school that prepares its pupils for the world in ten to 15 years’ time has been recognised by Google for its use of technology.
Grange Park Primary School, in Enfield, has been named a Google Reference School for its efforts to enhance pupil and staff engagement through innovative IT practices.Google Reference Schools are recognised for their outstanding use of technology to drive positive learning outcomes.There are just a handful of such schools in London, with Grange Park being the first to achieve the status in Enfield.
Tijen Hassan, the school’s headteacher, said: "At Grange Park, we are deeply aware that we are preparing our children for the world that will await them in ten to 15 years’ time when they have finished their education."
"Things are moving on at such a rate, it is important that they understand and embrace innovation and change across how we use IT. That is why we have invested a great deal of time in thinking creatively about how we use technology in our everyday learning."
"Not only do we have digitally confident pupils with the competence and confidence to use a wide range of tools, we are also seeing the pace of learning improve as children are able to have work marked in real time."
As a result of the innovative IT practices, pupils at the school are achieving outcomes that are well above all national averages in academic performance. A spokesperson from Google added: "Google for Education is delighted to welcome Grange Park Primary School as the latest Google Reference School in the UK.
"The school was selected for this programme based on its commitment to innovation; its use of technology to enhance learning; and the range of tools and technologies that are integrated across the curriculum."
